There are dreamers and there are realists in this world.
You’d think the dreamers would find the dreamers, and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not, the opposite is true.
See, the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun.
And the realists?
Well, without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground.”
When Emma and Dan said they were having a festival themed wedding in one of my favourite boutique wedding venues, Cloughjordan House; I knew that I was the perfect fit to document their wedding day. Emma is in marketing and Dan is a dedicated army man and a retired drum and bass DJ. When these two come together magic happens. A totally immersive wedding with everyone playing their part, including a very important four-legged ring bearer named Banjo.
From the moment I arrived in the quaint cottages of Cloughjordan house for Emma’s bridal preparations I realised the front door was where the quaintness ended. Inside the prosecco was flowing with Sandstorm by Darude setting the tone of the morning. This was a party wedding make no mistake. And it had only just begun..
At the manor house Dan and his army buddies were lounging and having a few cold beers. Preparing for what was sure to be a a night to remember. The weather was holding as the sun burst through the clouds for a moment only to be swallowed up again. A decision was made and the barn was prepared for their beautiful Humanist Ceremony. It’s solemnity broken frequently by Emma’s whoops of glee!
Dan’s troops were out in strength and after a guard of honour the gloves were off. Party games and festival atmosphere took over from the relative seriousness of the exchange of wedding vows. Music started and it didn’t end until long into the night. With no reason to leave the stunning grounds of Cloughjordan house we captured beautiful imagery of Emma and Dan’s natural love and connection as we explored the gardens and green areas of the estate. But there was a party to be had and far be it from me to get in the way of a good party. We let them escape back into the embrace of the madness.
Emma and dan’s first dance topped the evenings festivities. Set to the drum and bass stylings of Rudimental, if you didn’t know the party had started you did now. The dancefloor thronged instantly and the rave began! Electric Picnic eat your heart out.
